MotherProduct Week: Day 4
Please enjoy this email responsibly. Age restriction applies. Adult Supervision Required, etc.
Why Mummy Drinks by Gill Sims is basically the diary of an exhausted working mother. It’s fictional, but so entirely relatable that it was Sunday Times No.1 bestselling book for seven weeks. The protagonist Ellen very neatly (and relate-ably) summarises an afternoon at a soft play centre as an event for which ‘there is not enough wine in the world to ease the pain’.
I’ve written about similar feelings here. And if you spend intermittent periods of your parenthood regarding a stiff drink as your reward for Achieving The Day (I am in the midst of such a period right now) you might appreciate Lockdown Liquor as much as I do.
Issue: Parenting (see above)
MotherProduct: Lockdown Liquor Premium Blended Picante 500ml, £25
My friend is a margarita connoisseur, she makes them up for me sometimes if we have to team up and hunker down for witching hour together. Our reward for achieving the hardest of days. I served them at my babyshower (you can personalise them for free - genius) and she went and bought some straight after. High praise indeed.
I’ve kept those bottles as souvenirs, and then ordered a Marlies bottle and a Noa bottle for our little bar corner when Noa was born, which I adore. But more, it’s the perfect cocktail pour. (Poetic).
